The Blog is Back

So after a month long hiatus, the BBQ Blog is back in action! As some of you know, I have recently moved into a fantastic new apartment (photos here) that lacked in only one area: a place to grill. We're on the top floor, and while there is a fairly decent back alley that could be used for some urban grilling, walking up and down four flights of stairs when you realize you forgot a sauce just isn't my kind of party. Eventually the primal instinct to char meat over an open flame got the best of me, and I began to explore the property a bit more, discovering this fantastic roof that is a mere 8 steps from my kitchen:

Yet even upon finding this huge open space to grill in, two more complicating factors resulted in the blog remaining in stasis. First of all, even though the weather has been fantastic, the unavoidable disappearance of daylight has begun. By 7pm its too dark to be standing on a roof tending a controlled fire, which has limited grilling time to afternoon weekends. Secondly, my grill buddy Matt Collins was in China for two weeks on business, and grilling by yourself just isn't as much fun. After two weeks of eating at the one Pizza Hut in Dong Wong, he's pretty glad to be back:

So we're back, and with a vengence. Today we fired up the grill and got down to business with some BBQ chicken and, a first for me, beer brats! I'm not sure how I've lived this long without enjoying the goodness that is meat simmered in beer, but rest assured it will become a staple on my Weber from here on out.

And to top it all off, the Patriots beat the Steelers. Aww yeah!

Blog Status

Dudes, sorry for the lack of updates. I have moved to a new apartment and a new routine (combination of school and work). Additionally, my BBQ buddy, Mr. Matt Collins, has been in China on business for the whole month.

He is getting back this week, and I promise to get this blog back on track for some fall grilling. Still exploring the options for grilling spaces at the new place, as we lack a dedicated porch and everything.

Also, I have some big plans for this section of my site that I hope to implement during the off season. So never fear, we shall return.
